Answer to Question 1

B
Feedback:
Palpation is done only after inspection and auscultation, to prevent pockets of gas from moving in the intestines and being mistaken for normal bowel sounds.

Answer to Question 2

C
Feedback:
The baby's sucking mechanism may be impaired, requiring special feeding. Facial paralysis or Bell's palsy occurs when the newborn's facial nerves are injured, usually as a result of forceps delivery. If nerve tissue is damaged, paralysis may be permanent. Usually, only one side of the face is affected. The eyelids and mouth may droop on the affected side, but not both sides. Seizures and respiratory distress are usually not seen in infants with Bell's palsy, unless there is an injury to the skull resulting in intracranial hemorrhage during the birth process.
