Answer to Question 1

ANS: B
Having experience in a variety of clinical settings makes it easier to determine which types of units one would find to be a good match for skills and personality traits. Nursing school does not encourage one to decide on a career area prior to graduation, nor does it allow for extra experiences. Community colleges and vocational/technical settings do not guarantee a job upon graduation. It is not necessarily true that because of rapid turnover of nurses in health care facilities, locating a choice of job is easy. There may be no openings on units the nurse would prefer.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: A, C, D, E
The directions offered in these options are clear, specific, as detailed as necessary and given at the nursing assistant's level of understanding. The resident goal has been identified in each case or a rationale has been given. When results are needed at a specific time, an explanation is given. When reporting is required, it is stated. These criteria are not met in the option with Mr. Hovde.
