Answer to Question 1

ANS: 1, 2, 3, 5
Electronic medical records allow multiple team members to access the patient's records at the same time, eliminating the need to wait for the paper chart to be available. Diagnostic study results are available as soon as they are entered into the computer, eliminating the need to wait for printouts to be delivered to the patient's unit. Struggling to read sloppy handwriting is eliminated by use of electronic medical records. Prompts, warning messages, and the free access to information has helped to reduce errors and improve the safety of healthcare delivery. One of the disadvantages of electronic medical records is the availability of information to those with no need to know. Staff must be taught to read only the records of those for whom they are providing care.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: 3
