Answer to Question 1

frontal

Rationale: The frontal bone is in closest contact with the image receptor for the PA projection, therefore giving it the best detail.

Answer to Question 2

to enter mid vertebral border

Rationale: Upright lateral scapula will allow the affected scapula to be closer to the image receptor. The patient is rotated until the lateral and medial borders of the scapula superimpose. When upright, the central ray will enter the mid vertebral border and exit the lateral border. When supine, the central ray will enter the mid axillary border and exit the vertebral border.
