Answer to Question 1

in the room, but with the most distance from the patient

Rationale: Distance is the most effective means of reducing occupational exposure. The Inverse Square Law states that with increase of distance from the source the intensity decreases by the square of the distance. The role of the technologist is often to assist the physician and/or the patient; therefore, the technologist is often present nearing the fluoroscopy. In order for a technologist to reduce dose and adhere to the needs of the physician, the technologist should increase distance from the patient in the imaging room until needed.

Answer to Question 2

fixer

Rationale: During fixation, the unused or unexposed silver halide crystals in the film are removed. In addition, the fixer serves to stop the development process and hardens the film emulsion.
