Which is one of the steps of calculating medication problems using ratios and proportions?
 
  a. Add all the values together and subtract the required drug dosage.

Irrigation solutions must be poured in their entirety into a sterile basin. If the contents are not completely dispensed, the bottle is not to be recapped and saved for later use. Once the bottle is opened, the lip of the bottle has rendered the contents unsterile once pouring has started.
