Answer to Question 1

Coprophagia is consumption of fecal pellets. It is important to the neonate to help establish normal gut flora (healthy bacteria).

Answer to Question 2

Precocial neonates are born with their eyes and ears open. They have a full coat of hair and their teeth are erupted. Most are active within a few hours of birth.
