Advantages include there being no range of motion, thus limiting pain, which is good for the first phases of rehabilitation. These exercises also require no expensive equipment. The disadvantages are that isometric exercises have limited use. They can build strength only to a certain point since they cannot provide overload through the entire range of motion.
