Answer to Question 1

B
A crisis can turn into psychiatric problems when an individual's normal coping mechanisms fail. Because of the challenge that the crisis presents, the person is called to adjust to the unexpected and to adapt to a situation or event that is unpredictable. When the person is unable to meet the challenge through normal coping mechanisms, a crisis ensues.

Answer to Question 2

C
Practice using Caplan's principles focuses on factors that promote or inhibit mental health. In Caplan's model, it is the community, not the individual, that is the client. Caplan's methods of preventive psychiatry have introduced the terms primary prevention, secondary prevention, and tertiary prevention into the lexicon.
