Answer to Question 1

B
Among the SSRIs, only fluoxetine (Prozac) was shown to be effective in managing bulimia. In addition to SSRIs, forms of psychotherapy have been used to treat bulimia. Cognitive behavioral therapy specifically was shown in one study to be more effective than antidepressants alone. CBT has been shown to reduce both the frequency and the severity of bulimic symptoms.

Answer to Question 2

D
A nurse using Virginia Satir's Communication Theory would be concerned with circularity. Circular communication is a predictable pattern of communication and response between two people. Because the patterns are repeated again and again, the family members are often unaware of them. For example, an angry wife criticizes her husband and the husband responds by withdrawing. This results in the wife becoming angrier and the husband becoming angry and withdrawing more.

It most often affects middle-aged and elderly individuals, spreading to surrounding tissue in the lungs. The disease often does not respond to conventionally successful treatments, and requires individualized therapies in order to keep it from becoming life-threatening.
