Answer to Question 1

B
Some clients with bipolar disorder, especially those who have only short periods between episodes,
have a favorable response to the anticonvulsants carbamazepine and valproate. Carbamazepine
seems to work better in clients with rapid cycling and in severely paranoid, angry manic clients.

Answer to Question 2

A
Medications such as fluphenazine decanoate and haloperidol decanoate are long-acting forms of
antipsychotic medication. They are given by depot injection every 2 to 4 weeks, thus reducing daily
opportunities for noncompliance. The other options do not address the client's dislike of taking pills.
