Active voice emphasizes what the applicant has accomplished. Active voice makes the applicant seem proactive and indicates forward movement, rather than implying that the applicant simply allows events to unfold.

Answer to Question 2

a. An introduction that identifies the subject, states the purpose of the letter (to apply for that position), and a main point (why the candidate would be good for the job).
b. A body that discusses work experience, educational background, and special abilities and/or skills.
c. A conclusion that thanks readers, re-stresses the main point of the letter, offers contact information, and looks to the future.
