Hamsters are known carriers of LCM which is a zoonotic potential. LCM can cause abortions in pregnant women or birth defects in unborn children.

Answer to Question 2

A contagious disease of hamsters, Proliferative ileitis (Wet Tail), produces very liquid diarrhea and is usually fatal.
