Answer to Question 1

The advantages and benefits are many and varied. Often, senior residents are invited to participate in
the regular maintenance of interior plants when interiorscaping is accomplished in-house, meaning the
installation is overseen by (a) trained employee(s) of the home. Such people/plant interaction is of
great advantage, allowing residents the opportunity to garden close by, in the safety of an indoor
environment. Tasks involved with the care and maintenance of plants encourage standing, stretching,
bending and reaching, beneficial for those in need of gaining and maintaining flexibility. It also
encourages socialization of people with similar interests in gardening and the natural world.

Answer to Question 2

The notion of site specificity, meaning that a certain plant or plants and their containers are specially
chosen for an exact site, makes each design situation a little different. Plants can be used in many
places and this will allow creative horticulturists to specialize in numerous areas of tropical plant
culture. Variety is important and designers can find inspiration from plant materials and containers.
