Answer to Question 1

A sediment basin is similar to a small pond and is used to collect runoff and hold it in place long enough for the
sediment to settle out. In construction, when erosion-caused sedimentation is expected to be severe, a sediment
basin can be used to prevent deposit of sediment on streets, in regular waterways, or elsewhere.

Answer to Question 2

A grassed waterway is adequate for most uses. When the volume of water runoff to be conducted away is so great
that it may damage the waterway, or when very frequent runoff is expected, the waterway should probably be
linedusually with rocks or concrete
