Nitrogen can be taken up as nitrate NO3 or ammonium NH4+.

 Carbon, oxygen, and hydrogen.
 Primary macronutrients are nitrogen, phosphorous, and potassium.
 Secondary macronutrients are calcium, magnesium, and sulfur.
 Micronutrients are iron, manganese, molybdenum, copper, boron, zinc, and
chlorine.
