A good supervisor sets realistic expectations for each employee, understands what
motivates workers to respond positively to their work, and is decisive, competent, fair,
understanding, respectful, sincere, and gives good directions, praises employees, and
rewards them for a job well done. A poor supervisor is lacking in one or more of these
areas and may be inflexible, partial to one employee, critical, condescending, or
indifferent.



Answer to Question 2

The type of customer to be served will depend first on whether the business is retail or
wholesale. Retail sales are likely to be directed to homeowners and other nonhorticulturists
who will purchase items in comparatively small quantities. Wholesaling
usually means that the customers will be other industry personnel. The second factor
determining the type of customer to be served is the economic class toward which the
business is directed. For example, a business known for costly products and services will
tend to attract more affluent customers than one that sells low-priced merchandise
