Most flowers consist of the same basic parts. The female part is called the pistil. The
pistil is made up of the stigma, style, and ovary. The male part is called the stamen and
contains the anther and filament.

Power poles, fence poles, and plywood are composed of stem materials. The xylem of
tree stems provides fiber for making paper. Stems are also used extensively for food and
can be used as animal feed.
