Answer to Question 1

Animals are raised for food, used for work, used as companion animals, and used in the
production of leather.

Answer to Question 2

In order to be healthy, animals have to be fed. They need medicine and pesticides;
fencing has to be produced; buildings and facilities have to be built to house the animals;
trailers and trucks are needed to transport the animals; and buyers, brokers, inspectors,
and processors are all required.
