Describe the typical location of an entry level integrated computer, also called an integrated controller, and what it controls.

What will be an ideal response?

Question 2

High end staged controllers and integrated computers can both receive and process signals from more than one type of sensor, such as temperature, in the greenhouse. How do they differ in this respect?

Answer to Question 1

It is typically located in the greenhouse. It has a limited number of inputs
from sensors and outputs to equipment it controls. It may receive signals from all
sensors in a greenhouse section and control all of the equipment in that section.
Alternatively, it might receive signals and control equipment in a few greenhouse
sections, but the amount of equipment would have to be limited to the small
capacity of the controller.

Answer to Question 2

The staged controller can only receive signals from a few sensors and the
type of sensors must be built into the controller at the time of its manufacture. The
computer can receive signals from a much larger number of sensors and it doesn't matter
what type of sensors are added over time.
