Answer to Question 1

C
Gingivitis is inflammation of the gums. Halitosis is bad breath. Pyorrhea is periodontal disease. Stomatitis is inflammation of the oral mucosa.

Answer to Question 2

B
The nurse should handle the skin carefully to avoid tearing or shearing the delicate tissue. Make sure to check for hearing aids and remove them prior to bathing the head and neck area. Water can damage hearing aids. Be sure to replace items such as eyeglasses, call light, bedside lighting, and hearing aids after the bath to help the older patient remain independent. The nurse should also cover the patient with a towel to protect them from hypothermia.
