Answer to Question 1

B
It was not until the 1970s that nurses began to independently investigate the effects of nursing care on patient outcomes and move away from prevailing medical approaches.

Answer to Question 2

A
Blood for AST is drawn to determine acute hepatic disease. A glucose tolerance test or fasting blood glucose level will aid in the diagnosis of diabetes. An acid phosphatase test is used to aid in the diagnosis of prostate cancer. An ESR test would aid in the diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis.
