Answer to Question 1

A
Heart defects are categorized according to blood flow patterns: (1) increased pulmonary flow, (2) decreased pulmonary flow, (3) obstructed blood flow out of the heart, and (4) mixed blood flow. The child's behavioral patterns, cardiac and respiratory function, fluid status, and growth and development should be assessed. Severe congenital heart defect can lead to the accumulation of fluids which can result in congestive heart failure.

Answer to Question 2

A
Contrary to common beliefs, most clients who are elderly are not in nursing homes. Only 10 to 40 of the population of older people will spend time in nursing homes. The number of people over the age of 65 in the years 2010 to 2030 will increase as these are the years the baby boomers will reach age 65.
