Hepatitis B is a viral infection transmitted by sexual contact. Symptoms include anorexia, vague abdominal discomfort, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, and jaundice and may progress into chronic liver disease, hepatic cancer, hepatic failure, and death.

The cardiovascular system responds to labor as cardiac output increases. Blood pressure increases and is highest during contractions. Blood pressure should be assessed between contractions. The client may experience supine hypotensive syndrome when she is in a supine position.
