Answer to Question 1

C
Client education is an important part of nursing practice because it enables clients to restore and maintain an optimal level of functioning. Some of the purposes of client teaching are to promote wellness, to prevent illness, to restore health, and to assist in developing the client's coping abilities. Among the benefits of client education are shorter hospital stays, improved quality of care, decreased chance of hospital readmission, and greater compliance with the prescribed treatment regimen.

Answer to Question 2

C
Standards of practice are derived from many different sources. Boards of nursing establish standards of practice, and these are reflected in the nurse practice act. Professional organizations, such as the American Nurses Association (ANA) and the National Federation of Licensed Practical Nurses (NFLPN), also develop standards of practice for registered nurses and licensed practical/vocational nurses, respectively.
