Answer to Question 1

2,3,4
Rationale 1: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention surveys trends, and is the main agency concerned with protecting the public from disease and controlling spread on a national level. The Public Health Department works at a local level to prevent spread of disease. The Department of Homeland Security would be involved because of concern over potential bioterrorism. The World Health Organization would not be involved unless there were concern about spread of the disease to other parts of the world. The Drug Enforcement Agency controls use of controlled medication, but would not be involved in an infection outbreak.

Answer to Question 2

2
Rationale: The school-age child will be spending more time away from home, and is beginning to make independent food selections, and needs to learn how to make healthy choices that will guide her throughout life. This group does not require more milk, and requires 1,600-2,200 calories per day, depending on their age and size. The school-age child should eat a good, nutritious breakfast every day to facilitate learning.
