Wheezes can be heard over all lung fields. These sounds are high-pitched, continuous, and musical sounds on inspiration or expiration. A friction rub is a dry, grating sound heard with the stethoscope. When heard over the heart, these can indicate pericarditis. When hear over the lungs, a sign of lung disease.
