Answer to Question 1

B
Decreased cardiac output occurs when the left ventricle does not eject sufficient blood volume to the system. When a patient suffers an acute myocardial infarction (AMI), coronary arteries do not supply sufficient blood to the myocardium. When a patient suffers from an AMI, the patient usually presents with severe chest pain, breathlessness, diaphoresis, and hypotension.

Answer to Question 2

D
Knowledge regarding developmental stage will help the nurse to determine responses that are important to the patient. A change in behavior suggests an alteration in self-concept.

There can actually be a 25-hour time difference between certain locations in the world. The International Date Line passes between the islands of Samoa and American Samoa. It is not a straight line, but "zig-zags" around various island chains. Therefore, Samoa and nearby islands have one date, while American Samoa and nearby islands are one day behind. Daylight saving time is used in some islands, but not in others—further shifting the hours out of sync with natural time.
