Sleep attacks are irresistible urges to sleep, regardless of the type of activity in which the client is engaged. Hypnagogic hallucinations involve nightmares or vivid hallucinations. In sleep-onset REM periods, during a sleep attack, the person moves directly into REM sleep. Sleep paralysis is skeletal paralysis that occurs during the transition from wakefulness to sleep.
