Answer to Question 1

ANS: A, C, D, E
For patients with receptive aphasia, the nurse can point to pictures that represent basic needs such as food, drink, or use of the bathroom. In dealing with patients with either type of aphasia, the nurse is patient and unrushed. If the patient has damage to the speech centers of the brain, special communication methods are used. The nurse uses simple phrases and questions and speaks clearly without shouting, and the nurse should stand or sit somewhere that enables the patient to watch facial expressions.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: B, C, D, E
Long-term complications of hyperglycemia may contribute to cognitive and sensory deficits such as memory loss. They also can lead to diabetic retinopathy, peripheral neuropathy, and stroke. Loss of consciousness is usually seen with hypoglycemia.
