Answer to Question 1

ANS: A, B, E
Nitrates decrease myocardial oxygen use and increase small blood vessels in the heart (collaterals) so that there is better oxygen supply to the inner layer of heart muscle. These products work rapidly orally but change in the liver to inactive products.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: A
Because these medications lower the patient's heart rate, the nurse should always take the patient's apical heart rate with a stethoscope before giving these drugs.
