Answer to Question 1

D
Dobutamine is a positive inotropic drug. Side effects include improved urine output and in-creased blood pressure. Facial flushing is common but not serious. Chest pain indicates the heart is working too hard, which may be related to the dosage level. The nurse should slow the drip rate and immediately notify the prescriber.

Answer to Question 2

A
To ensure an accurate dose with a medicine cup, fill while holding the cup at eye level. Either place the cup on a table and bend to look straight at the mark, or hold the cup up to your eyes as you fill it. Looking down at the mark or looking at it from an angle below the cup will result in an inaccurate dose. Although drawing the drug up into a syringe first also ensures an accurate dose, this step is not necessary.
