Answer to Question 1

C
The risk of certain types of cancers is increased even among moderate alcohol users. The current data suggest that no amount of alcohol is safe with regard to cancer risk. Chronic alcohol use ac-tually reduces the risk of osteoporosis. Chronic consumption of alcohol is associated with an in-creased risk of cardiomyopathy. Pancreatitis occurs in only 5 of heavy drinkers, but 35 of all cases of pancreatitis are related to alcohol.

Answer to Question 2

C
Methohexital Brevital, a short-acting barbiturate, is given intravenously for induction of anes-thesia. It has a rapid onset and short duration and must be followed immediately by an inhalation anesthetic. It does not alter the side effects of inhalation anesthetics. Most adjuncts to inhalation anesthetics are given so that lower doses of the anesthetic may be used. Methohexital has very weak analgesic and muscle relaxation effects. Methohexital causes cardiovascular and respiratory depression.
