Answer to Question 1

D
Feedback:
The desired goal for cholesterol readings is for a patient to have low LDL and high HDL values. HDL serves as a protective mechanism to reduce cholesterol so higher levels are desirable. High LDL levels increase plaque formation. Fiber does not contribute to risk for coronary artery disease (CAD) although a diet high in fiber is preferable. Elevated blood lipids are never desirable but control of blood sugar levels reduces CAD risk.

Answer to Question 2

B
Feedback:
Because children can have increased susceptibility to the gastrointestinal and nervous system effects of anti-infectives, monitor hydration and nutritional status carefully. Patients should be encouraged to drink fluids. Cardiovascular, hepatic, and pancreatic function are not at greater risk in children. Rest and sleep status are important but are not impacted by anti-infectives.
