Rotate the sites of topical forms of nitroglycerin to lower the risk of skin abrasion and breakdown; monitor for signs of skin breakdown to arrange for appropriate skin care as needed. Care should be taken not to touch the side of the patch with the medication by the patient or anyone assisting in applying the patch. The patient may shower with the patch in place. There is no need to increase fluid intake but patients should be encouraged to maintain adequate intake.
