With 0.5-mg dosage of atropine, slight cardiac slowing, dryness of the mouth, and inhibition of sweating would be noticed. Definite dryness of the mouth and throat, thirst, rapid heart rate, and pupil dilation would be evident with 1.0-mg dosage. With 2.0-mg dosage, the nurse would note rapid heart rate, palpitations, marked mouth dryness, dilated pupils, and some blurring of vision.
