How deep a cut can be made in solid wood floor joists to accommodate ductwork?
 
  A) Up to half the depth of the joist may be cut out from the top of the joist.
  B) The joist can be completely severed so long as successive joists are not cut.
  C) Up to half the depth of the joist may be cut out from the bottom of the joist.
