AN OUTLIER CAN SEVERELY INFLATE OR DEFLATE THE CORRELATION.

ANY REASONABLE ANSWER OK. EXAMPLES: LOOKING AT HEIGHT VS. WEIGHT FOR ALL ADULTS, GENDER MAY BE MASKING A POTENTIAL RELATIONSHIP.
