The failure rate in a German class is 30. In a class of 50 students, find the probability that exactly five students will fail. Use the normal distribution to approximate the binomial distribution.
 
  Round the standard deviation to three decimal places to work the problem.

A researcher obtained independent random samples of men and women between the ages of 20 and 29. She finds that 35 of 410 men and 59 of 398 women suffered from insomnia at least once a week during the past year.
 
  Decide whether or not the conditions and assumptions for inference with the two-proportions z-test are satisfied. Explain your answer.

The assumptions and conditions necessary for inference are satisfied. The samples are both random. The samples are independent of each other. There are at least 5 successes and at least 5 failures in each sample.
