 The nafir trumpets and the mazhars play a repeating ostinato pattern.
 The metrical rhythmic patterns alternate between six-beat units that are grouped into two groups of three (1 2 3 4 5 6 1 2 3 4 5 6) and three groups of two
(1 2 3 4 5 6 1 2 3 4 5 6)see also explanation of sesquialtera metrical rhythm in Instructor's Manual Chapter 9, Question 9.

Answer to Question 2

 The blaring of trumpets (nafir) and the beating of bendirs as the couple is escorted up the steps to a rented hall, followed by everyone including guests, musicians, and wedding couple periodically walking around the room through the night until sunrise. Each time this procession occurs, it is announced musically by the ritual specialists hired for the occasion.
 Three groups of musicians were hired for the party and entertained us until 8:00 in the morning.:
 (A) a band sitting on a stage playing Egyptian and North African urban pop;
 (B) four Berber women singing and dancing in a style unique to the Atlas Mountains, to the accompaniment of bendir and rabab.
 (C) a third musical configuration of men playing bendir and rabab and huge tambourines (mazhar) and long, straight, valve-less trumpets (nafir)
