Answer to Question 1

It is an example of a Chinese narrative genre; there are several hundred distinct narrative traditions across the whole of China.
Jingju (Beijing opera) has an instrumental ensemble that accompanies onstage characters (classified as male, female, painted face, and clown) who use the expressive means of singing, speaking, acting, and fighting. Costumes and make-up are rich, while scenery and stage props are often simple.

Answer to Question 2

Daoism, Confucianism, and Buddhism.
Daoism  stresses self-cultivation and severing one's ties to an imperfect world; later cross-fertilized with numerous folk religions, including spirit and ancestor worship
Confucianism  a fixed social hierarchy where loyalty flowed upwards from common individuals to ruler and to heaven, and social responsibility flowed downwards; human nature is basically good, but easily corrupted by bad leadership.
Buddhism  man is inherently imperfect, but can improve through religious practice and multiple incarnations toward a purified future.
