According to the source of vibration that creates the instruments sound what major classification does the instrument fall under? Why? How would you describe the instrument in your own words? Answer to Question 1

 The kora is classified as a chordophone because strings vibrate to create the instrument's sound.
 The kora is a 21-stringed harp-like instrument with the strings pulled over a bridge (a piece of notched wood similar to violin's bridge). The neck passes straight through a skin-covered resonator.

Answer to Question 2

 Three musicians create the music, a vocal solo accompanied by a kora (a twenty-one string bridge-harp) and percussion/spoken interjections. (See photo of a kora in Worlds of Music, Fig. 3.3, p. 1126)
