Answer to Question 1

Perimeter zones are exposed to outer building skin variables, such as wall and window loads, wind effects and exposure effects, as well as the items in the core areas. The perimeter zones have to handle a wide range of conditions, including such variances as high solar gain on a winter day requiring cooling, while shaded parts of the building require heating.
