Answer to Question 1

A system dependent recovery device depends on the system from which the refrigerant is being recovered to help move the refrigerant. System independent recovery devices do not rely on the system the refrigerant is being recovered from for their operation. They typically are small, specialized condensing units.

Answer to Question 2

A non-pressurized container does not have a pressure greater that 0 psig even after putting refrigerant in it. It does this by expanding in volume as the refrigerant is added.
