An engineer wishes to select a suction line that will have a maximum pressure drop which is equivalent to a 2F saturation temperature drop. What would be the pressure drop for a 134a system operating with a 0F saturation temperature?

Answer to Question 1

134a at 0F saturation is 6.5 psig. 134a at -2F saturation is 5.5 psig 6.5  5.5 = 1 psi drop for a 2F saturation temperature drop

Answer to Question 2

That opening is the return air. The advantage of having a return air around the fluorescents is that the heat generated by the light is pulled back up into the return and is not radiated as much into the occupied space.
