Answer to Question 1

Two position dampers are either open or closed, modulating damper control can position the dampers anywhere between open and closed.

Answer to Question 2

The compression joint is composed of a compression sleeve, a ferrule, and a compression nut. The copper tubing fits through the nut and the ferrule into the sleeve. The nut threads over the sleeve. As the nut is tightened, it squeezes the ferrule around the tubing. The compression of the ferrule around the tubing seals the joint.
