Answer to Question 1

Contaminated refrigerant should be recovered into an empty recovery cylinder marked Contaminated to keep it from contaminating other relatively clean recovered refrigerant. Charges for destroying contaminated refrigerant can become expensive.

Answer to Question 2

You should always use two wrenches: one for a backup wrench to hold the part that should not turn, and the other to do the turning. Always use correct fitting, properly sized wrenches. Fixed wrenches are preferable to adjustable wrenches. Pliers, vise grips, robo grips, and channel locks should not even be considered.
