Answer to Question 1

Yes. After all remaining refrigerant has been removed, the cylinder valve may be opened. A screwdriver can be placed on the inside serration of the rupture disk located on the shoulder of the tank. A hammer can be used to lightly tap the handle of the screwdriver to pierce the rupture disk open. After the rupture disk has been completely removed, a large circle is to be drawn with permanent marker around the open rupture disk and labeled EMPTY. The tank can then be recycled along with other steel recyclables at a local steel recycling center.
