Answer to Question 1

People can analyze stress-producing situations and decide what is worth worrying about. Individuals can effectively respond to a stressful workload by getting help instead of carrying the entire load. Relaxation techniques can also help reduce the effects of stress. Some common relaxation methods include meditation, biofeedback, music, and exercises.

Answer to Question 2

Managers can help design jobs in ways that lead to worker satisfaction, thereby decreasing work stress. Physical stress can be reduced by improving the work environment and establishing a sound safety and health program. Managers can also assist in the effort to provide varied and independent work with good possibilities for contact and collaboration with fellow workers and for personal development.
