Answer to Question 1

The fact that the Universe is both isotropic and homogeneous leads to the cosmological principle, which says that any observer in any galaxy sees the same general properties for the Universe. The cosmological principle implies there are no special places in the Universe. What you see from the Milky Way Galaxy is typical of what all intelligent creatures see from their respective home galaxies. Furthermore, the cosmological principle states, in a new form, the idea that the Universe can have no center or edge.

Answer to Question 2

A study of type Ia supernovae showed that they are about 25 percent fainter than expected. That must mean they are farther away than expected, given their redshifts. This is strong evidence that the expansion of the Universe is accelerating.

Vampire bats have a natural anticoagulant in their saliva that permits continuous bleeding after they painlessly open a wound with their incisors. This capillary blood does not cause any significant blood loss to their victims.

Glaucoma is a leading cause of blindness. As of yet, there is no cure. Everyone is at risk, and there may be no warning signs. It is six to eight times more common in African Americans than in whites. The best and most effective way to detect glaucoma is to receive a dilated eye examination.

The human body's pharmacokinetics are quite varied. Our hair holds onto drugs longer than our urine, blood, or saliva. For example, alcohol can be detected in the hair for up to 90 days after it was consumed. The same is true for marijuana, cocaine, ecstasy, heroin, methamphetamine, and nicotine.
